TTG XML Maker

Current version 1.1

For galleries not supporting TTG XML Auto Index, TTG XML Maker can be used to generate the autoindex.xml file necessary for recognition by the index. Just fill in the information, hit Export or Upload and aim it at the gallery in question.

The Two XML Makers

As of version 1.1, TTG XML Maker is now two separate templates.

TTG XML Maker is the same as before, and outputs only the autoindex.xml file. Users may specify a thumbnail for use; if no thumbnail is specified, TTG XML Auto Index will randomly select an images from the thumbnails directory located in the root of the gallery folder. This version of TTG XML Maker is ideally used when a gallery already contains thumbnails in a folder named thumbnails and located in the gallery root.

TTG XML Maker w/ Thumbs outputs both the autoindex.xml file and a thumbnails folder containing thumbnails of images selected in your filmstrip. This version is ideally used for galleries not already containing thumbnails, or galleries whose thumbnails are in a location other than gallery-root/thumbnails when the user does not wish to explicitly set a thumbnail path.

I love the gallery templates you have here, and really appreciate you making them available to all of us! I just tried this out (TTG XML Maker) and noticed that some of the galleries (like TTG photo stack) have a thumbnail directory called ‘thumbs’ and others (like TTG autoviewer) have no thumbnail directory at all; in either case, the auto-thumbnail doesn’t work since it looks (I think) for a directory called ‘thumbnails’. I can hack it to make things work, but figured I’d point this out in case you’re not aware. Thanks again!

I’m aware, thank you. In such cases, you’ll need to manually specify a thumbnail.

Hi Matthew,

I want to use the XMLMaker to include galleries I hold in Exposuremanager to the index.
As there is no thumbnails directory there I have to add it manually.
Nevertheless it would be useful if you could select a picture in LR and use that as a thumbnail for that index entry.

I hope this is a useful suggestion and useful for others too ??

Robert,

That’s an excellent idea! This is why I love user feedback. I’ll try to get it together by the weekend.

It’s done in version 1.1, above.

Hi Mathew !

I am playing a lot with the templates to setup my homepage. I am now using a blogger account and want to automate with the output from LR. Can I adapt the source of your code myself ? Want to play and test a little, returning the reults of course.

Thanks

Robert

Hi Robert,

I’m not familiar with blogger, so I’m not quite sure what you’re on about. You do have my permission, however, to do whatever you need to do to get things going the way you like them. Best of luck, and please let me (and other LR users) how it goes, as I’m sure it could be useful to others.

Cheers,
Matt

Hi Matt,
got some time to think and came to the conclusion, that – at least for me – it would be easier if the autoindex.xml would have two more tags: – Album Date / Time – Album Comment (longer text, like the paragraphs in LR Pages)

these would allow to produce a “photoblog” via php, sorted by date etc.

Maybe you consider to add this ?

My basic goal is to export pictures from LR to a gallery, and have a php driven Mainpage that automatically presents the galleries (like autoindex does), newest first, with thumbnail, title, description, comment and also be able to present an index (by date, title).

I publish some of my pictures via exposuremanager (www.exposuremanager.com). There you helped me a lot with the XML-Maker 1.1. for the thumbnails. My workflow in this case has two steps: select pics for the gallery and 1/ upload via ftp to exposuremanager and 2/ select xml-maker, change ftp setting to my website and export XMLMaker to get the autoindex and thumbnails. Maybe there would be an option to have these 2 uploads within one template ? Just my thoughts. I think other LR users may also use Exposuremanger to present their portfolio.

I wanted to share some ideas, thanks !

Robert
