TTG photoFlow Gallery

Current version 1.0

A photo gallery for the iTunes generation, TTG photoFlow Gallery taps www.FlashLoaded.com’s photoFlow component to create a presentation that mimics Apple’s Cover Flow.

TTG photoFlow Gallery is free, but photoFlow is not. The photoFlow component must be purchased from www.FlashLoaded.com for $59.95 in order to use the Web module plugin.

Furthermore, photoFlow is very limited in the number of options that can be set from the XML file. To make full use of the component, users will need to use Adobe Flash to create their own SWF file.

Installation

In order to use TTG photoFlow Gallery, users are required to purchase photoFlow from www.flashloaded.com for $59.95 USD.

Once purchased, use the component with Adobe Flash to create an SWF file called photoflow.swf. Copy the file into the gallery folder. Overwrite the existing swf file, which is a fake. You may now continue installation according to the Installation instructions.

Achtung!!

Flash required!!

To create a photoFlow gallery, Adobe Flash is required.

Read the UserGuide

Most of photoFlow‘s custom functions cannot be set from the XML file and cannot, therefore, be set from within Lightroom. You will need to use Adobe Flash to customize your gallery and generate the SWF file for use in Lightroom and in your exported gallery. For a full rundown on gallery attributes and how to create your gallery, read the user documentation on the FlashLoaded website.

This is awesome! Excellent job, Matthew! I would like to see your PageFlipper Gallery plugin (http://www.flashloaded.com/flashcomponents/pageflipper/) in the future… :) Many thanks!

I dont get it.
I have photoflow (cool app), I open flash and add the component. Component shows on screen and if i then want to create the photoflow.swf i have to export to create it. If im using this with lightroom i assume i dont have to tell photoflow component the images location. Problem is you then go to lightroom and it seems to do nothing, Any idea as to what steps im missing.

thanks
Pete

From Flash, you need to “Publish” the SWF. Did you name the SWF correctly? Did you copy it into the correct location?

You should not need to tell photoflow were to find the images.

Hi,

Can you give a little more info on how to prepare the Flash movie? I’ve created an empty flash document and added the Photoflow component. Publishing to photoflow.swf doesn’t seem to be enough as the lightroom-photo’s don’t show. The Flashloaded documentation shows how to hook up image-directories and xml-files and stuff, but is that nescessary for the Lightroom template?

I appreciate your help.

Kind regards,

Bart

Bart,

All of the documentation for setting up photoFlow is on the FlashLoaded website, here.

The Lightroom gallery handles the image directories and XML file, so you need only publish the SWF file and be sure to name it photoflow.swf so the LR gallery can find it.

I’m getting the same result as Bart above. I publish the .swf file, place it in the LR Gallery folder. When I try to create a gallery in LR, I get a blank gray page. Are there any Property settings that need to be changed when creating the .swf file, or will the defaults yield a working .swf file?

You need to configure the SWF to read from the XML file, which, I believe, is not the default behavior. Also, make sure the filename of the SWF file matches the mainSWF filename in the gallery.xml file in the gallery archive (i.e. open gallery.xml in a text-editor and check the filename for the mainSWF; should be self-explanatory when you look at it).

For information on configuring the component for XML input, see the photoFlow documentation, linked above.

Matthew, Thanks! What was missing was the pointer to the xml file. Not sure why I overlooked that!? Everything else was correct. Now that I have it working, your gallery is very cool! I’ve been fiddling with all of the parameters to see how it all works.

I’ve purchased Flash CS3 Pro.
I’ve purchased photoflow AS3
I’ve installed Photoflow
I’ve created the SWF file called photoflow.swf and moved to WEB Gallery folder
I’ve extract all teh files of your Photoflow gallery to Web gallery folder
…but still i see your blue screen asking me to purchase photoflow…:-( what dod i do wrong ?

The folder should be called Web Galleries. Check that you have the correct location. Also, when you copy in your authentic photoflow.swf file, you should be prompted to overwrite the original file. If you received no warning, then you didn’t copy the file to the correct location.

Hello Matt,

I am using Photoflow gallery and everything is working well. Wonderful, you made it so easy that I was able to publish in a record time.

Now, I have 2 questions for you:

1. Is there a way to resize the images which are displayed, I find those two small and would appreciate getting access to size parameters?

2. Is there a limit (reasonable or maximum)in the number of images that your gallery is able to process/handle?

Thanks for your help,
Gilles.

Hi Gilles,

I’ve made available in LR all of photoFlow’s XML-based features. You might want to contact FlashLoaded, photoFlow’s creators, with your queries.

Sorry I can’t be of more help.

Matt
