Search Trends: Adobe Lightroom vs. Apple Aperture

Everyone Googles, and that makes Google Trends a good way to compare what people are Googling. For kicks, I set Adobe Lightroom against Apple Aperture. The results were quite a bit more disparate than I’d expected.

The results for Lightroom spiked massively in early 2007, around the time of Lightroom’s 1.0 product launch and has retained a steady lead on Aperture throughout the year.

One thing to consider, however, is that Aperture remains exclusive to Apple computers, while Lightroom enjoys searches from users of both Mac and Windows platforms. Clearly, Lightroom holds an advantage in this regard, but the disparity is nonetheless impressively in favor of Lightroom.

HOLD YOUR HORSES!

Aperture 2.0 released. I downloaded the full version trial and it rocks.

Again, it won’t be for everyone, especially PC owners. It’s made for Mac and all Leopard’s special “under-the-hood” advantages.

You can even shoot tethered with Nikon and Canon cameras directly.
