TTG Slimbox Jeopardy!

Current version 1.0

TTG Slimbox Jeopardy! is something I put together to use in my classroom on an overhead projector. I needed a good Jeopardy template for a class, but couldn’t find one that I liked. Most of the templates available on the Internet are Power Point presentations, and – let’s face it – Power Point blows.

TTG Slimbox Jeopardy is written in valid XHTML, CSS and Javascript and runs in your web browser. Questions, category titles and number cards are all images and organized neatly into folders. If there’s something you want to change, create a new image and replace the old with the new; no coding required. If you want multiple rounds of Jeopardy, it’s as simple as swapping in a new folder full of images.

Running alongside the game area are entry fields for keeping track of players’ scores. Questions load in an overlay, so everything happens on a single page. Game panels disappear from the game board when selected; to bring them back, click them again.

The package includes two HTML files, a thin version for 1024 pixel screen resolutions, and a wide version for resolutions 1280px or greater. In the PSD folder are my Photoshop files used to make new category titles, and number or question cards.

TTG Slimbox Jeopardy utilizes Christophe Beyl’s Slimbox to display questions. Special thanks go to my good friend, Ben Williams for help with the onclick events that cause panels to disappear from the board when selected.

File naming conventions

The images files used by the game are named according to grid-based conventions. Each column is assigned a number 01 (first column) through 05 (fifth column).

Each row is then assigned a name according to its point value. The category titles aren’t questions and therefore are not worth any points, and so have an assigned value of 000.

File names take this format:

column##_value###.jpg

Thus, the first question in the first column is the image file name 01_100.jpg and is located in the questions folder.

TTG Slimbox Jeopardy! is free to download, but if you like it and you use it, please make a donation.
