TTG or Adobe?

In addition to the options found in Adobe’s Airtight PostcardViewer gallery distributed with Lightroom, TTG PostcardViewer Gallery features the following options:

  • Watermarks
  • Page Title
  • Up-to-date with the latest version of PostcardViewer, PostcardViewer 1.2, including captions and right-click menu option

Changelog

v1.4 (2008-04-17)

Updated to the new PostcardViewer 1.2.

Added support for captions and opening images via right-click menu.

HTML-based version of gallery dropped; if you want a header, use with TTG Stage instead.

v1.3 (2007-07-24)

TTG PostcardViewer Gallery BASIC has been superseded by TTG PostcardViewer Gallery FLASH, a Flash-based version of the template based on the recent Airtight PostcardViewer gallery released by Adobe, but with some improvements. The TTG version allows users to enable Watermarks, inserts the Page Title into the title of the exported gallery and makes a few other tweaks. This new Flash-based version should also preview within the Web module in LR for Windows.

Cleaned up the code in the HTML version of the template.

v1.2 (2007-05-28)

Archive now contains Standard and Basic versions of the gallery.

Bugfixes.

v1.1 (2007-05-23)

Reorganized the options panes to establish consistency amongst my galleries.

v1.0 (2007-05-14)

Initial release.

Additional Notes

TTG PostcardViewer Gallery is based on the public version of PostcardViewer 1.1.

jlw,
The Windows version of Lightroom users IE to render its previews. For some reason, trying to run Flash inside of LR raises IE’s security flags. See the “Notice to Windows Users” above. Hopefully they’ll remedy the problem in the next version of LR. In the meantime, use the “Preview in Browser” feature to set things up; the galleries should export just fine.

Hello,
I’m a french girl, and I don’t understand everything you talk about.
I just want to ask you if with Lightroom, we can create a galery for collections of photos, or if we can create many galery, in the same place, just not associated to an only figed collection, but one galery associated to a thema, and many collection to many thema, in the same place ? (the same site)
thanks for attention !

Malou,
I’m not sure I understand your question perfectly, but I’ll try to answer it as best I can.

With Lightroom, you can choose a group of photos and then produce a web gallery containing those photos.

You can make as many different galleries as you’d like, but need to save those galleries in different folders.

If you have a website, you can put the galleries online, but you will need to create some type of index page from which visitors can navigate to the individual galleries.

Does that answer all of your questions?

I created a gallery w. lightroom. I exported it and now im trying to take the gallery’s swf file and put it in my html document in dreamweaver on my folio page but its not working. I should be able to take all the files in that folder and add to my website library in DW and they should like right? I cant view it.. HELP!!

Stacey,

I don’t use DreamWeaver and have not yet attempted to incorporate a gallery into another page, but yes, I imagine it should be possible. I can’t lay out exactly how to go about it, since I haven’t tried, but here are a few things to keep in mind:

1) PostcardViewer is not embedded into a page using the usual object or embed tags. Instead, it’s called in using the swfobject.js script, and placed into the “flashcontent” div. Be sure to include these pieces of code from the template page in your DreamWeaver document. Also be sure to added the swfobject.js script to the head of your document.

If you’re just using DreamWeaver’s menus to insert the viewer.swf file into your document, I don’t expect that’s going to work.

2) Keep the exported gallery’s file structure intact. If you move things around, the gallery might not be able to find the files it requires.

Hope that helps some. Let me know how it goes.

simply amazing.. nice work!! How about setting the postcards in a circular arrangement? Just an idea for the next version =)

chi,
PostcardViewer is made by Airtight Interactive, and such requests should be made there. I only create the framework which allows the gallery to function within Lightroom.

i would like my identity plate to appear at the top of the page but it appears at the bottom on all of these wonderful galleries. is there a way to adjust that? I can not find one.

Edit the transformer.xslt file and move the code for the ID Plate to the location in the file you’d like it to appear. The HTML for the index.html file is at the bottom.

at the risk of sounding like a complete novice, what program would I use to edit the transformer.xslt file? I am not well versed in code writing but am a quick study and very intuitive. With a little guidance I can navigate through the worst of conditions.

Thanks

Any text editor will do. I like skEdit for the Mac, but TextWrangler, BBEdit, TextEdit, TextMate and others will all get the job done. For Windows, you can use Notepad, Dreamweaver, or anything else you’d like.

Hi Matthew,
When I export my gallery and I click on the index.htm in the folder. I’ve just a blue page with Pastcard viewer V1.1 on bottom of the page but no pictures… Can you say me what’s the problem ?

Thank you
Bertrand

Are you exporting using the HTML or Flash template? Is everything working normally in the Lightroom preview?

Awesome work you got there…. do you know how I can implement some of your templates into photoshop elements 6 gallery creator ?

Look forward to hear from u :-)
Thanks in advance

I’ve never used Photoshop Elements, so I have no idea. Sorry.

If you visit the Airtight Interactive website, though, they do have plugins for the regular version of Photoshop for several (maybe all?) of their galleries.

My captions aren’t showing up. I put a value in the caption field in the Library module, then made sure the Caption field was selected in the Web module.

Any clues?

I LOVE this gallery. Thank you so much!

PostcardViewer doesn’t support captions or text of any kind. The only reason the Captions item is still listed under the Image Info panel is that Lightroom won’t allow that panel to be empty.

Following up… the crashing LR 1.3.1 from this version of Postcardviewer and tracking it to make sure which version of PCV I have installed… made it had to find out… in fact impossible. I had to DL the latest and compare all the files… and they are the same. So… it still crashes… and you may wish to put version readmes or something in the DL so people know which version of your awesome files they have. Cheers g

Hi Guy,

The version number of the gallery is always in LR.

I’ve heard of no crashing, and I’m a little confused. Can you elaborate some?
