How are you using TTG galleries?

Roll call!!

Since April, I’ve released something like 20 web gallery templates for Lightroom. I’ve received a tremendous response from users – complements, feature requests, bug reports, complaints and more – and it’s been a good feeling to find so many Lightroom users appreciating and making use of my work.

Most of what I see, though, are sites in mid-development, usually when I’m resolving support issues.

Some users use the galleries pretty much as they are, while others hack them up a bit to personalize them or to integrate them into existing web designs.

I’m interested in seeing examples of how Lightroom users are deploying TTG galleries in “completed” websites. So, my question is, how are YOU using these galleries?

If you have a site deploying one or more TTG galleries, please post a comment below with a link to your site, and listing any galleries you’re using. If you’ve made modifications, please feel free to list those as well. I’d really like to see what folks have come up with.

And, who knows? It may give me some new ideas for development.

For my band’s web page I am using a modified version of an Autoviewer gallery: http://antinymmusic.com/photoflash/index.php

For my portfolio page I use a hacked up version of the Slimbox gallery: http://www.ink13.com/print_design/index.html

I love all of the TTG galleries. I only wish I had more sites that needed them. I keep trying to get my photographer friends to let me build pages of them.

Hi, I am using your TTG Shadowbox template together with XML Auto Index on my site http://www.racemat.de/ to show some photos I’ve taken in zoos. Just go to “Fotoalben” – but be warned nothing special there ;-)

Thanks your all your hard work!

FWIW, I love the “remove live_update.js” feature in TTG Shadowbox v249 and think it would be fantastic if you added a similar feature to remove the “index.html” file and “thumbnail” folder from TTG Auto Index.

Believe me, I wish I could. Unfortunately, the architecture doesn’t work that way.

Hi Matt,
As you know I’ve included some new TTG Shadowbox Galleries into my existing website which is at: www.johnbishop.me.uk

Follow the Show Photos link on the left, then select from these shows:
Roberto Devereux,
Bluebeard,
Pimpinone,
Semele,
Un Giorno di Regno,
Fierrabras

The other links on that page link to older Frontpage galleries which I will convert to Shadowbox Galleries as time allows.

I will eventually change the Show Photos page to a TTG AutoIndex Gallery when I have made a few more galleries and when I have learnt how to do it!

all the best,

John

Hi Matthew,
Again, thanks for all the incredible offerings. I’m still quite the newbie to this stuff and your templates have really helped to tie my hacky pages together :)

I had some spare time today, so I began overhauling my pages. I’m trying to keep it simple but more will be added I’m sure. For now the core is finished.

What’s not keeping my page simple is iWeb – yikes – don’t like it, but it’s an easier alternative for now. I ended up using an iframe to display the slimbox galleries. This seems to work in the PC/MAC browsers I’ve tried, but it’s a bit slow and has introduced a few compromises.

So much more to learn. :)

Anyhoo, have a look.

Dan, I’m not typically a fan of the iframe, but your site looks great. I was surprised at how well you’ve managed to embed the galleries in the iframes.

oh!!
the page www.kemg.org
also uses the autoviewer in the model pages =)

I use a hacked up version of TTG Shadowbox in conjunction with the XML auto index. I originally hacked the gallery code to make menu items before you implemented the ability to add menu items in lightroom. The rest of my hacks are simple changes to the CSS to change the placement of text or size of different elements or adding background images.

www.kemg.org
I use slimbox in places and I think I used the album index also… its kinda ragtag in places and I need to redo it and tidy everything up with what I have learned playing with the code on the other web page.

oh!!
and the model pages use the autoviewer!

I love what you do!!!!
THANK YOU LARGE!

I’ve pretty much rebuilt my site around your Shadowbox template and really think It’s given me a nice looking site that easy to update and easy to use.
Really love the new LRPages template and currently playing with that to see how I can integrate it.
Fantastic, thanks so much!

I did another thing with your templates.
I took the code from the auto index and modified it to load a random image onto my main page

goto www.bhphotoworld.net

reload the page a few times and watch the image change =)

thanks again for your great ideas!!

Nice work, Mike, though I could have saved you some trouble and just given you a simple image rotation script that I’ve had sitting around for at least two years. ;P

its ok
I got to learn alot by hacking the codes =)

that was the reason I did it to begin with

I have found lots of scritps like that but I am so much more familer with the css and the php code now its amazing!!

Hi Matthew,

I’ve gone online with TTG Auto Index and TTG Slimbox at:

www.tanzschule-reiners.de/index.php

It’s in German, but choosing “Fotos” in the main menu brings yout to the galleries. Using the Auto Index gives me the needed flexibility and a very fast way to publish my fotos. It’s the hompeage of a dance club run by a friend of mine and the short return time is a key factor. The ladies there want to go through their performance – return home and see the pictures!
Being able to do all of this from Lightroom now is such a great step forward. And it’s all possible now, because of your work. Thanks, and the donation is on it’s way.

Hi!
I’m using it as a contact sheet so my clients can choose the photos from their events (birthdays, weddings…). This galleries that people can select are just the BEST for photographers! Thank you!

I’m thinking about making something independent from Lighroom based on those! =) It would be really interesting.

Bye!

Hey Matt and everyone—

I use the Simpleviewer in my portfolio galleries on my photography site, altered a bit in Adobe GoLive, and the client respnse gallery and xml auto-index for my customers’ online proofing and ordering. You totally saved my virtual life with these—I did my whole site myself and I know NOTHING about coding or Flash!

Hey everyone,

When it came time to redo my boss’s photography website we were so glad we found The Turning Gate, especially after having so many problems getting good results from the designers we had used in the past. Now we can do it ourselves and it looks great!

http://www.andreafremiotti.com/

The TTG LR Pages provided a great Homepage template and we used the TTG Panic Galleries for the photo collections. We had to do some tweaking, such as removing the Info panes from the Panic Galleries and getting everything to align properly and such. These were easy with Matt’s tips and help. Soon we hope to add an Auto-randomize feature to have the homepage serve up different images each time it loads. When it comes time to update the galleries with new fresh images, no problem, i can do it myself in minutes.

Thanks Matt!
