It’s the first of the new Chinese year, year of the pig, aspect of fire, and it’s a pajama day for me. Hye Neung made some traditional Korean new year soup – deokkguk – substituting tofu for beef (vegetarian girlfriend) and we ate that for lunch. We rented and watched Steve Martin’s The Jerk, and I’ve been playing with the Internet. A quiet day at home. If astrologers are to be believed, however, the new year should be anything but quiet:
The Chinese Fire Pig symbol (Fire over Water) contains a special character that forms an accelerant. The year has potential for situations to gather speed; to burn out of control.
In Chinese astrology, clashes of Fire & Water have powerful, uncontrollable effects, while transformation takes place. Situations flare up quickly and propel out of control. (Source)
Friday, Hye Neung bumped into Jaurim‘s singer, Yuna, at Galleria Department Store – not far from my home – and got her autograph. Hye Neung said she was very friendly, with a speaking voice more diminutive than you’d expect from hearing her sing.
Yesterday (Saturday), we went to a Willy Ronis photography exhibit and to the Margritte exhibit, both in galleries around City Hall.
I didn’t drag out my camera for the day, but Hye Neung opted to tote my old Sony Cyber-shot (a camera of questionable photographic quality). In any case, “Photo pile, go!”
