Get CE3 Now!

Do pardon the cheesy Photoshop text, but I am happy to announce the immediate availability of CE3.
The shop has been updated and revamped, the documentation and promo site are now live, and upgrades are ready to be claimed.
By now you should know what to expect from the releases, as I've done a lot of talking about them the past week. If you haven't been following along this week, you can browse the CE3 feature articles, or get a more compact overview of the releases on Niall Horley's blog. His overview of CE3 is superb.
Available today are:
- TTG CE3 Auto Index
- TTG CE3 Gallery
- TTG CE3 Pages
- TTG CE3 Publisher
- TTG CE3 Viewport Sizer
Those of you with existing CE2 orders, please lookup your orders here. You will either have immediate access to CE3 downloads, or you will find a text file containing an upgrade discount code for the newer version, depending upon your date of purchase.
TTG CE3 Publisher is a free upgrade to all existing users. The CE3 versions also supports the CE2 galleries, so no need to keep the older version. To upgrade your publisher installation from CE2 to CE3 in Lightroom:
- Go to File > Plug-in Manager
- Click TTG CE2 Publisher in the list of installed plugins on the left.
- Under "Status" on the right, click "Disable".
- On the left, click the 'Add' button and locate the CE3 version publisher plugin.
- Finish adding and enabling the CE3 version, then click 'Done' to exit the Plug-in Manager.
- In Publish Services, verify that your albums and album sets are now correctly listed under TTG CE3 Publisher.
- If so, then you may launch the Plug-in Manager again and remove the CE2 version plugin.
In the shop, there is another surprise for new and legacy users, the new CE3 Web Publishing Bundle. The bundle includes the Auto Index, Gallery, Pages and Publisher plugins at a 15% discount compared to making the purchases separately.
CE2 users will save more by upgrading their individual plugins with the provided discounts. For new customers, or legacy users running pre-CE2 versions, though, the bundle is a great way to get up-to-speed at value. In fact, we are providing the bundle specifically to help our legacy users make the leap to CE3 and more modern websites.
Accompanying the CE3 releases is the new CE3 wiki, featuring the most comprehensive documentation we've ever provided for the plugins. It's been a big task pulling it all together, but I think you will really appreciate the information to be found there. Many of the old articles and blog tutorials appear in updated form on the wiki, including some handy PHPlugins tutorials.
Also on the wiki, you will find 10 new pre-made themes for CE3. One of them is CE3 Asphalt, a CE3 version of the default look from CE2. For those of you wanting to mix the new TTG CE3 Pages with your older CE2 galleries and shopping cart, the Asphalt theme will probably be a time-saver.
Now enjoy, and I look forward to hearing what all of you think of the new versions. There are new CE3 forums in the Community Support Forum, so sound off there much as you like.
Cheers,
Matt

What is the cut off date for upgrades i.e. package bought in, say, Dec 2012 – are they are paid upgrade or not? Your email of Feb 23 states ‘Recent purchasers will receive access to CE3 versions for free’ but no date has been given and Dec does seem to be recent given the enormity of this upgrade.

The cutoff is different for each plugin. I typically switch the SKU to begin selling the upgrade in advance of release around the time that I begin working on the new version in earnest. So I think for Gallery, that was early December. For Pages and Auto Index, maybe sometime in January … at try to give the plugins at least 30-45 days of lead time, though some plugins — like Gallery — will have much more than that.

Thanks for the discounts Matt. It will take me some time to get to know CE3 but I am looking forward to working with the new streamlined engines and updating my website.

Great job … when can we see WordPress theme?
March 3, 2013 at 7:43 am
Sorry to say, it may be a while yet. The WordPress theme and the cart are likely going to be the most time-consuming projects in assembling the CE3 series. Ben is working on the cart, but I still have a few other projects I need to wrap up before I can even start on the WordPress theme. If I did the WordPress theme first, it would seriously delay the other things that need to be released, like the Client Response Gallery, Horizon, Stage …

Is there any way to copy CE2 configurations to CE3 like there is between CE2 plugins? I’m guessing not, but . . .
March 3, 2013 at 9:34 am
Negative. All new framework, with no correlation to the preview CE2 versions.

But you can use the new “Shared Resources” feature to pass on all the main styling from CE3 Pages like site wide typography, page colors, Header, navigation styling, and footer styling.

Is there a way for owners of some CE2 plugins to get a discount on the CE3 Bundle?
March 3, 2013 at 2:27 pm
I, for example, own two CE2 licenses and I get $10 discount each on upgrading them to CE3. So, I would expect getting at least a $20 dollars discount on getting the CE3 Bundle :)
March 3, 2013 at 9:28 pm
Nope. The bundle is primarily intended for legacy users, still using CE or earlier versions who may want to upgrade to CE3. CE2 customers upgrading two or more plugins will get better savings by upgrading their individual components.

Hi Matt,
Congratulations, I’ve been using your plugins for ages and am excited to see CE3. Is there a change-log versus CE2? At face value I’m not seeing major differences from a website user perspective (unsure about the Lightroom user perspective).
Cheers,
James

Loads of new. No Changelog, because its not an update, but a total rebuild and because a Changelog would be absurd.
You can backpedal through the last week of blogging for info, or checkout the newsletter: http://mad.ly/32f483

Thanks, I’ll have a look. Not trying to imply there isn’t a lot new in CE3, it’s just when the engine is completely new I’m more interested in what I and users will see, as opposed to what’s under the hood and hadn’t so far been able to find that anywhere.

Hey Matt Getting started on my new ce3 upgrade site. Was just wondering and hoping that you and or Rod are going to update and hopefully be a little more active on your youtube channel. I think this is a great time to do it while the momentum of CE3 is buzzing. also would you allow some of us to make or link or help videos to the site etc… Thanks again great product and killer revamp of the wiki from what I’ve read so far (plan on reading thoroughly.

No set plans regarding YouTube, but maybe. There’s at least one more video I want to do as a promo piece. We’ll see how it goes, but video can easily eat into my time and I really do need to stay focused on getting the rest of CE3 out the door. We shall see … What types of videos would you (or others) like to see?

Thinking maybe an update for the hack to apply the templates. Maybe also showing the difference between the auto index and the built in index. how to use the publisher feature etc.. I think its good in two ways Matt. 1- most photographers are visual so we learn better from seeing, watching and then repeating. Also a keyword search from someone on the verge of maybe doing a square space or some of the others who really would like more creative control of their site (much like myself) who wants to give it a go but not sure may stumble on to the video and bam!! another person turned on to the ttg. But I understand that your very busy trying to wrap up other things. That’s why I also suggested that maybe you would want to turn it over to some of the other members like the beta testers and community who seem to be well versed in ttg applications. But just a thought Matt
